Recently all Saturdays have come to look the same. Todd, Nolan, (at least one of the boys from across the street) , and now the two boys from up the street....It's all about FOOTBALL!!

Want to know how you've measured up as a mom???....
visit your daughters Endocrinologist. I cringe every time we have an appointment with him. As much as I love him and think the world of him, I just know he's going to utter those crushing words "Mom, what do you think you've been doing?"
Every 6 months we head to the Endocrinologist and the Nephrologist to have Emma checked out. The Nephrologist said everything looked great, we are still waiting on some blood samples to come back, but the kidneys and urine looked great. We headed to the Endo today and was surprised when he said that Emma's A1C was 7.6. That has come down some and I didn't expect it to be super high (she's had a good run on numbers) but was pleased with 7.6. We discussed what we could do to keep her daily numbers lower toward the 120-150 and we are going to change the basal rate and see how that helps out. We will know more about the thyroid later when some tests come back. As of now...we have a thumbs up from the Doc.
There are times that her blood sugar jumps way high for no apparent reason, which can cause the "long term" damage to the body. It's so frustrating to try to keep the sugar count at a good level. I know I'm from the south...but have never actually tried to catch a greased pig!! From what I've heard and seen in movies, it seems a lot like trying to keep blood sugars in a good range.

HSM3
Count yourself lucky if you don't know what that stands for! HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 3. I had made plans with Lee and Emily (from the Disney trip...guess things went alright, they still talk to us) to see HSM3 after church today.
We met at the theater and saw about 7 girls we knew. Another mom, Margie, was there with her girls but as most of us are...she had been banned from sitting with her oldest. We invited her to sit with us, she is actually Emma's substitute teacher in school for the next few weeks.
I've seen all HSM's and I'm not sure where this one falls. It seemed like it tried to fit too much time period wise into a short movie. It still left me with the question "Does Ryan know he's gay?"
Anyway, as I danced out of the theater, totally embarrassing Emma (I have warned her that it is in my job description to do so) I was not left with a hole that I feel ANOTHER HSM would fill.
Let's hope they all go to college and Disney knows when to say when.
The Sound of Silence...
OK, it had to be SSOO obvious that I need some time alone! Todd looked at me on Thursday and said, "Why don't you take Saturday for yourself?" In medical terms I was "one acorn away from nuts."
Emma had a birthday party from 9:30 - 12:00 on Saturday that I took her to. They met at SoHo Sweets in Homewood, picked out the ice cream that they wanted and then trekked over to a beauty school down the road for the "whole package". We are talking fingernails, hair, and make up. The girls had a BLAST. I'm not really sure the ladies at the salon knew what they were in for!

here is our Birthday girl..Emily

and her little sis...already learning the moves.
After dropping Emma off at home I headed out to a movie. Yes..(sigh) by myself. I used to think that there was no way that I would EVER go to a movie by myself. Why would I need to when hubby loved to see them as much as me? I would always have the comfort of another person with me in the dark. Well, children change things and you become braver than you thought you ever were. I walked right up to the ticket counter and proudly handed over the $$ for the ticket (wow prices have gone up) and then whispered "One ticket to Eagle Eye", hoping people would think that I was meeting someone in the theater!!

the end of the day with all the nails done and hair up!

Luckily the previews had already started so the theater was dark although it is hard to hide one lone silhouette slinking into the nearest seat. The move was alright. I wish the ending had little to do with a computer "on it's own" as apposed to a bad guy in charge of the mayhem.
As luck would have it the theater is right next to the mall?!! So, for a few hours I wandered around looking at all the stores and finding way more for Emma than I did myself. It's just more fun to dress her.
By the time I made it home (early by todd's standard) I realized that the only words I had spoken since about 1:00 was when I bought the ticket. No body asking me things, interrupting me, begging, pleading, or pouting around me...WOW!
The sound of Silence.
